A state-wide program where South Australian householders can drop-off their (Domestic ā€“ not Commercial) used light globes for recycling for free has recently been launched by Mitre 10.

The light globe recycling initiative aims to help householders make environmentally conscious decisions about lighting when it comes to purchase and disposal. It will also provide them with a convenient and responsible way to dispose of their old light globes, free of charge.

SA householders can simply drop of their end-of life globes at any of our checkout counter at either Salisbury or Port Elliot Mitre 10 hardware stores. This ensures that globes will be recycled instead of going to landfill and prevents mercury contained in some globes from harming the environment.

Compact fluorescent lights last six to 15 times longer than incandescent, so fewer light globes are used, making them a far better option environmentally and financially.
