LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber)

lvlLVL is an engineered timber product that uses multiple layers of thin wood assembled with adhesives. It is typically used for heavy duty structural purposes for the building and construction industry such as lintels, roof beams, garage and pitching beams. LVL offers several advantages over typical milled timber. Specifically made in a factory under controlled specifications, it is stronger, straighter, and more uniform. Due to its composite nature, it is much less likely than conventional timber to warp, twist, bow, or shrink. LVL is similar in appearance to plywood.

LVL beams LVL beams involve thin sheets of timber laminated together to form a solid section. The process serves to minimise weaknesses in the timber thus providing higher strength.

I Beams (also known as H Beams)

The I beam is a professionally designed and engineered composite timber product manufactured within a quality assured process. The resulting structural timber I beam can be produced in a range of depths and spans to suit domestic and commercial applications. As an engineered composite, the beam dimensions are not restricted by the available dimensions of natural sawn timber.

The high strength to low weight ratio of the I beam enables larger beams to be readily transported and handled on site. Although the I beam can be incorporated in a range of fabricated assemblies, it is also sufficiently lightweight, can be readily cut and installed using conventional construction techniques. All round a highly flexible and adaptable product.

Laminated Timber Beams

These beams involve pieces of sawn timber glued together to form solid timber sections. Like LVL, the process serves to minimise weaknesses in the timber thus providing higher strength.

  • Well suited to decorative portal frame applications
